Made of Shaw's Recyclable EverTouch Nylon, the collection represents the essence of the West - with relaxed styling, ethnic influences, rich warm colors, and natural distressing. Focusing specifically on Pueblo Indian pottery, Navejo weaving, and Plains Indians beadwork, Shaw's designers created six distinctly patterned, richly colored rugs. Rounding out the collection and bringing in a modern statement, the designers looked to the graphic patterning of an African kuba cloth and an ancient Peruvian tunic. Aside from the intricate design work, the museum also provided inspiration for beautiful earthtone colorations, including burnt oranges, deep browns, and rich reds. The collection is a brilliant blend of native design traditions and modern styling. You might say the museum has been our muse. The Museum of New Mexico in Santa Fe that is. The extensive archives of this amazing place and two of it's satellite institutions - the Museum of International Folk Art and the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture - have prompted Shaw's designers to focus on the rich patterns, colors and textures from the native people of Southwest America, Africa, and Latin America.
